SVOD subscriber additions in the U.S. 2022-2024, by plan type
In the first quarter of 2024, over half of the new SVOD subscribers in the U.S. signed up for an ad-supported plan. The share of gross ad-supported subscriber additions increased recently. In comparison, at the beginning of 2022, 39 percent of new subscribers signed up for an advertising-based version of SVOD services. With increasing prices and the effort of streaming companies to retain customers, more and more SVOD providers started to offer lower-cost ad-supported tiers.
